HPE is offering a premium of around 32 percent over the share price on the day of the announcement for network equipment provider Juniper Networks. HPE intends to spend around 14 billion US dollars to double its own network business. Artificial intelligence also plays more than one role in this area. On the one hand, as a driver to process the data hunger of applications, and on the other hand, to make network technology more intelligent. The takeover is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 or early 2025 at the latest – the new unit within HPE will be headed by the former Juniper CEO Rami Rahim.
Consolidation on the vendor side continues this year and for HPE, the acquisition fits in with the pattern of recent years with the purchases of Aruba and Silver Peak. With this deal HPE remains committed to its general business strategy to maintain its solid position in hybrid infrastructure and cloud-based infrastructure solutions.
